    Our 11th delivery of this Distance Learning course, which comprises a series of 7 monthly tutorials and written assignments, participation in an Intensive Study Weekend – hosted by Hospice Casa Sperantei in Brasov – and a supervised Practical Assignment.

  • Locally-led training: Muhanga 2020

    Rwanda

    The first of 3 planned training events which will see staff from 13 settings access introductory training and a starter set of musical instruments in 2020. We also worked together with our Local Trainers to create a promotional leaflet in English and Kinyarwanda so they can advertise the introductory music training they are offering.

  • Research summary: 2nd Edition 2020

    Romania

    We produced an updated ‘2nd Edition’ of the Research Summary we first produced in 2016, in response to requests from people pioneering the use of music therapy in countries where it is not a widely recognised or established form of intervention.

    We donated new musical instruments to Centrul de Educatie Incluziva Nr.1 (Oradea), to replenish their musical instruments which have been much used within their music programme since their introductory training with us back in 2001.

  • Motivation programme 2020

    United Kingdom

    We offered three CPD events for early years practitioners to come together share successes, pool resources and troubleshoot. In light of COVID-19, two took place on Zoom. We also delivered monthly email bulletins, created new resources and guidance on using musical instruments alongside new social distancing and hygiene measures. We provided enhanced online access to resources and a mechanism through which individual partners might request specific support at any time.

Despite COVID disruptions, out students successfully completed their learning with us.

    We returned to Centrul de Educatie Incluziva in Oradea, to support a workshop led by a Local Partner to nurture and inspire the use of music by the teachers at the school, who have been our Local Partners since 2002.

  • On-site skill-sharing: Moss Park (Fort William) 2020

    United Kingdom

    A second 6-week field project with Moss Park Care Home, a residental centre for elderly people in Fort William, many of whom live with dementia. We provided training to two new staff members, and top-up training to two further members of staff who had taken part in Moss Park’s first introductory training project (2016), to introduce and sustain the use of music within the care and activities of their residents.
