  • Support visit: The Alivera Centre and Urugwiro Centre (Cyangugu) 2013

    Rwanda

    We returned to visit our partners at Ngwino Nawe (since renamed The Alivera Centre) and Nkanka (since re-named Urugwiro Centre) to support their ongoing work with music, launch our training DVD and explore how they might be able to share their skills as trainers themselves.

  • Training DVD: Rwanda 2012

    Rwanda

    In response to local request, we put together a Training DVD as a culturally meaningful way to introduce the concept of music therapy and some of the key principles to a wider audience of people working with children and adults with special needs in Rwanda, as well as being a resource to consolidate our existing rwandan Partners’ understanding of how they are currently using music.

  • Follow-up visit: The Alivera Centre and Urugwiro Centre (Cyangugu) 2011

    Rwanda

    We returned to spend time with our partners at Ngwino Nawe (since renamed The Alivera Centre) and Nkanka (since re-named Urugwiro Centre) in Cyangugu, to support their continued use of music following our introductory training the previous year. Sharing successes, developing practice and troubleshooting.

  • On-site skill-sharing: The Alivera Centre and Urugwiro Centre (Cyangugu) 2010

    Rwanda

    A 6-week training proejct provided to staff working in two care settings: Ngwino Nawe (since renamed The Alivera Centre) and Nkanka (since re-named Urugwiro Centre) in Cyangugu. This project built on the work initiated by Music Therapist Helen Leith independently, but has since been taken on fully by Music as Therapy International.
