  • On-site skill-sharing: The Shraddha Centre (Hyderabad) 2018

    India

    A 6-week project providing training to teachers at The Shraddha Centre for Special Education (Hyderabad) so that they might establish a programme of music sessions for their pupils with learning disabilities.

  • CPD events: Early years 2018

    We offered a series of 3 CPD events to early years practitioners who had graduated from our Structured training. An opportunity to share successes, pool ideas and troubleshoot.

    United Kingdom

    We returned to the care settings who accessed introductory training from us in 2016-17 to assess the medium term impact of these projects and to support the staff’s continued use of music with those in their care. Additionally we were keen to find out what practitioners and their managers felt was needed in terms of future support and/or training.

  • Musical instrument fund: Romania 2018

    Romania

    We were delighted to award a 2012 graduate from our Distance Learning course with a set of musical instruments to support her continued use of music with children, young people and their families in Bistrita.

  • Conference participation: Brasov 2018

    Romania

    For the third year, the University of Transilvania organised a national music therapy conference in Brasov, at which we were delighted to present and give workshops to participants from around the country, as well as to attend many interesting presentations given by people across Romania with an interst in music therapy (including several of our Local Partners).

  • Follow-up visit: Kigarama Community Hub (Kigali) 2018

    Rwanda

    We returned to visit our local partners in Kigali who had taken part in the introductory training provided in 2017, which was delivered in partnership with Hope and Homes. The visit was an opportunity to observe practice, evaluate skills, offer on-site support and collect local views of what additional training or support is needed.

  • Distance learning programme evaluation 2018

    Occupied Palestinian Territories

    We travelled to the Occupied Palestinian Territories to undertake the first phase of a 2-year evaluation of our distance learning course “Music for Young Children with Disabilities”. With the help of Sounds of Palestine and Musicians Without Borders, we were able to meet with, interview and observe sessions run by our Distance Learning Programme graduates 2016-18.

  • Follow-up visit: Public Schools No. 129, No. 200 and Parent’s Bridge Centre (Tbilisi) 2018

    Georgia

    We returned to visit our Local Partners at Public School #198, Public School #200 and the Parents Bridge Centre (Tbilisi) to observe practice, evaluate skills and offer on-site support and additional training, as well as to discuss the development of the new Music Therapy Centre in Tbilisi.

  • Conference participation: Re-Visioning our Voice: Resourcing music therapy 2018 for contemporary needs

    We attended the British Association for Music Therapy conference in London, chairing a Roundtable presentation with 5 Advisory Panel music therapists who shared their experiences of delivering introductory training projects in the UK using our sill-sharing approach, with a focus on lessons learned and inviting discussion among other UK music therapists sharing their skills independently.
