Our recruitment drive we started last year has already seen the addition of Karina Brown to the Board. To continue our efforts to strengthen our governance, we expanded our search with a range of skillsets and experience outlined.

Welcoming some new faces

And now, after finalising all the associated administration, we’re very happy to announce the addition of three new trustees to the Board. Rebecca HuttlyAlex Lewis and Charlotte Surun OBE (pictured above, left to right), each bring unique experience, perspectives and a shared love of music.

Focusing our expertise

In addition to the new trustees we have on board, our existing trustees have each taken on specific responsibilities for different aspects of our governance and operations.

John Ellis is Chair of the Board, and will be drawing on his professional experience to take particular responsiblity for overseeing the charity’s financial operations and guiding decisions relating to remuneration and HR.

Karina Brown will be drawing on her experience as both a solicitor and in dementia care to take on responsibility as our Lead trustee for Safeguarding.

Hannah Reid and Jane Robbie will be drawing on their experience of international development and working overseas, with particular responsibility for supporting the team overseeing the activities developed and delivered by the charity.

This promises to be a way to ensure greater oversight for our Board, as well as to bring our combined efforts into closer alignment. As John Maxwell said: “Team work makes the dream work”!

Looking forward

The first duty for our incoming trustees was to attend the first of our Board meetings this week. There, we discussed our ambitious plans for 2023 and the imminent launch of our new three-year strategy, so it’s fair to say they’ve had to hit the ground running! There’ll be more on these to follow, but in the meantime we hope you’ll join us in welcoming our new trustees to the charity.
