This week, we will be taking Music Helps (UK), our new online music and dementia training course, on the road to Home Instead’s national conference in Manchester!

With over 1,000 franchise owners, office staff and homecare professionals attending the conference, we hope to build on our existing relationships with Home Instead offices across the UK and extend the opportunity for many more professional caregivers to take part in our free online training course.

Our course pilot in summer 2024 affirmed the immediate and potential impact of Music Helps (UK) for caregivers and the individuals living with dementia who they support. Among our pilot participants were a number of Home Instead care professionals, including care teams from London, Wales and Devon. We hope that their unanimously strong feedback will inspire others to share the course with their caregiving teams and explore how music can play an integral role across all aspects and stages of dementia care.

I learnt how to use music to make the person feel able, seen and appreciated, even when the person loses their communication abilities.

Makeda and Elsa will be hosting a ‘Music Helps (UK)’ stand in the main Exhibitors’ Hall on Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January, ready to answer questions, share inspiring impact the course has had so far, and direct as many caregivers to take part as possible. If you will be attending on either day with your Home Instead team, please do come and say hello!

Our huge thanks to Karina Brown and Home Instead for their support and generosity in enabling us to attend.
