We are delighted to announce that this year’s Interactive Music-Making (IMM) programme will again be delivered in association with North London Music Therapy CIC, as our Associate model for delivery of IMM training enters its second year.
We are grateful to North London Music Therapy CIC for again supporting Music Therapist Marina Emmanouil’s contribution to our teaching during this year’s training. Particular thanks also to Rivka Gottlieb and Nicola Demousthenous from North London Music Therapy CIC.
Marina, who also contributed as a Guest Tutor for the 2022-23 Interactive Music-Making programme, shares why she believes the training to be so beneficial to early years staff:
Throughout the course the students had the opportunity to understand the value that music has in their practice. The fact that they were able to form deeper connections with their children through their Interactive Music-Making sessions but also use the material and exercises they were taught, without losing their individual creativity, was something great to experience. I’m really looking forward to the next Interactive Music-making course and excited to see what the next group will bring to us.

Nicola Demosthenous, North London Music Therapy CIC Music Therapist, adds:
Engaging babies and young children in musical activities is fundamental to healthy brain development. It’s always fascinating to me to see a young child respond in such a diverse way to musical interaction. It’s instinctual and innate, and every child should have the opportunity to experience relationships through music.
