This September is World Alzheimer’s Month. World Alzheimer’s Month is an international campaign that takes place every September to raise awareness of dementia and support people affected by the disease. The campaign also aims to challenge the stigma and discrimination associated with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Here at Music as Therapy International we are taking this moment to recognize the challenges of dementia care, not only for those diagnosed but also for their caregivers.
With 77% of participants reporting improved well-being, our free course: Music Helps India, plays a transformative role in dementia care and emphasises music’s therapeutic power. The course promotes sustainable ways to use music for self-care and the care of loved ones, fostering a compassionate, person-centred approach to dementia care in India.
At Kshetra Assisted Living and other care facilities across India, Music Helps India empowers caregivers with practical musical techniques that ease the emotional toll of caregiving. By integrating music into daily routines, caregivers have capacity to care with connection, while people with dementia benefit from music’s ability to unlock memories and soothe anxieties. This World Alzheimer’s Month, has been a wonderful opportunity to honour those caring for our most vulnerable, and continue supporting them with initiatives like Music Helps.
The course is available in Hindi, Telegu and English. If you would like to learn more about the impact of Music Helps India or how to enrol please click here.
