Pavithra Gangadharan, our Partner in India, will be attending the 2023 Global Ageing Conference in Glasgow this Thursday 4th and Friday 5th September. If you are attending too, keep a look out for Pavithra’s poster presentation on ‘Fostering a Culture that Values the use of Music as a Tool in Dementia Caregiving among Care Facility Staff.’
In 2019, Pavithra approached us to help create a new type of Introductory Training Project:
We approached Music as Therapy International to help us create a training program which would further the use of music in dementia care-giving, beyond structured therapeutic sessions, to embed music as a foundational component of our care-giving culture.

Alongside Nina Cherla, we created Music Helps, our online music and dementia music training tool which equips caregivers to use music in the care they provide within an Indian context.
Pavithra’s poster explores Music Helps and she would be able to tell you more about her experience implementing the training programme with the staff at her care setting Kshetra Assisted Living by Heritage ElderCare Services Pvt. Ltd in India. Pavithra will also be sharing the post-pilot impact of the course on caregivers and the people living with dementia in their care, as well as the medium-term impact of the course as we caught up with the pilot participants six months later.
For those who are unable to attend, we hope to share Pavithra’s poster presentation with you all at a later date.
