For many years we have offered a Distance Learning Programme to equip people with music skills they can use with young children with disabilities in Romania, the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Jordan. This year, for the first time, we are excited to be able to offer the same training to people wanting to learn more about using music with children with disabilities in Georgia.
The course takes one year to complete and comprises 8 monthly tutorials, the requirement to complete a Written Assignment each month, a 2-day Intensive Study Training (led by music therapists, to be attended by all course participants in person), and the requirement to complete a Practical Assignment (running weekly music sessions with a small group of children with disabilities over a 2 month period). Course participants will be offered supervision by a music therapist during the Practical Assignment and must document their work. More information can be viewed in the Course Information document.
We have been working with Georgian music therapist Tako Jordania to review the course content and adapt it to be relevant to a Georgian audience and we are now ready to welcome applicants to its pilot delivery. Participation in this first delivery of the course will be free of charge.
