The 2024-2025 Distance Learning Programme in Georgia has begun.
We again have a diverse group of practitioners eager to deepen their knowledge and expand their practical music skills. With each new year, we’re reminded of the incredible commitment and passion for musical practice in care that continues to grow in Georgia. This programme is designed to nurture that passion, equipping participants with music skills and resources that directly impact the children they work with.
The course started off with the first online tutorial distributed last month and all students met online over Zoom with Tako. We will soon see all students in person in November for the Intensive Study Training that will be delivered by Tako and Advisory Panel member Jenny Laahs, who is coming all the way from Scotland. The Intensive Study Training serves as a critical stepping stone for course participants, as they will be able to explore practical music techniques with instruments following principles they will be learning from the tutorials. We would like to give a special mention and thank you to the Conservatory for hosting the Intensive Study Training this year and we are looking forward to seeing the new set of musical instruments (pictured below) being put into use by participants.
In the new year, course participants will run their own music sessions with children and will be encouraged to reflect deeply on their practice, with supervision to help them apply their new music techniques in their day-to-day work. We are excited to see how this year’s cohort will take their learning forward, and the meaningful changes they’ll bring to the lives of children with disabilities.
It was an interesting training, there were no easy tasks. With the help of the training, I learned objective observation, managing emotions, I know how to sing and play, but I discovered music from a different angle. The training taught me an unconditional positive attitude, I use it at work and with my own children.
