Earlier this year, our 2022 Distance Learning Programme in Romania concluded with course participants receiving their certificate of completion. The course equipped students from 10 different care settings across 7 districts with the skills to use music in the care they provide. The 10 newly trained caregivers have collectively created opportunities for 1,380 children to access music as part of their care.
Music holds the power to connect children in care with their caregivers. It helps them get to know each other and form deeper relationships. Our participants have shared with us the excitement and enjoyment their children get from their music sessions, providing them with a space to explore and express their emotions.
Many course participants shared a significant moment of personal satisfaction from their practical work:
There were many moments when the children interacted extraordinarily beautifully. I remember one time when everyone was playing a different instrument and I listened to the recording, it sounded extraordinary like a tight group of friends playing.

I fondly remember the moment when… I played the sleeping tambourine and they all laughed out loud together.

Are you in Romania and interested in the Distance Learning Programme?
Our Distance Learning Programme starts with a theoretical component as students work to develop a deeper understanding of the theory of music therapy through written assignments.
This is followed by an Intensive Study Training in which the practical component starts and where participants have the chance to meet in-person and discuss the theory they have learnt.
The intensive study weekend was one of the best courses I have attended recently. I received answers to all questions, I learned a lot of things that helped me in practice.

After the Intensive Study Training, students complete their practical assignments where they put into practice everything they have learnt over the past several months.
If you work with children with disabilities and would like to learn how you could use music in your work, please get in touch. Email invatarelasdistanta@musicastherapy.org to register your interest in joining the course in 2024.
